The better to understand you with

With the boys’ expanding vocabularies, it is somewhat of a relief to finally understand what they are trying to communicate. Though it’s not always perfect (sunscreen = sumscream), for the most part they can make themselves understood. And I can assume that what comes out comes out of their mouth now is what they’ve been trying to say for the past two years.

For Jonah, WEH WEH WEH has apparently always meant “I want some miiiiiilk” especially when it was first thing in the morning.

For Benjamin, WEH WEH WEH has apparently always meant “More! More food! More!”

And for both, had I realized how much they were saying “MINE! NO! MINE-MINE-MINE! MINE DO IT! NOOOOOOOOOO! DO IT MINE-SELF!” I might have left them in the NICU a few more years.
