Eight pounds of essentials
…and I’m not talking about the boys when they were born. Instead it’s the Sequoia Survival Company’s Vehicle Survival Kit – a small red bag filled to the brim with all kinds of things you might need/want in case of an emergency on the road.
Since we live in hurricane country with two toddlers, we already have a backpack of essentials in our car (as well as half a linen closet full of water, candles, non-perishable food, etc.). But when packing the car backpack, I was just thinking toddler essentials (diapers, wipes, sippy cups, extra clothes and snacks)...
Sequoia has thought of a lot more:
- matches (wind/waterproof)
- toilet paper
- military-syle water and food rations
- playing cards (clever!)
- crank radio/light and cell phone charger (brilliant!)
- duct tape
- rope
- Gerber multi-function hardware tool
- two rain ponchos
- a complete first aid kit and much more!
And when I said “filled to the brim," I wasn’t exaggerating. Once I pulled everything out, I couldn’t fit it all back in again. I took out the handwarmers and thermal blankets (probably won’t be needing them in South Florida anyway!) then put the entire bag into the bottom of the car backpack.
Overall, the Vehicle Survival Kit is a welcome addition to our emergency stash and would make an excellent Christmas gift to just about anyone with a vehicle!

This is such a nice one... I never thought of doing anything about boredom - putting in playing cards is just too cool :D
By the way, I received the autumn goodies! You're such a lifesaver. Been desperately rummaging all of the stores here in Osaka to find my survival drink :D Thank you so much! And that wooden bird is just soo cute. :) Im gonna hang that one soon in my lamp cord ;)
