An unexpected discovery

With Abuela available to watch the boys, I I went to the annual Miami Beach Antiques Fair the other day. What a Snooze-Fest. It was the last day of the show and the few people that were actually there – including me – were thoroughly bored.

I escaped, walked a few blocks and discovered this...

The Holocaust Memorial on Miami Beach.

I’ve been to Aushwitz/Birkenau.

I've been to Anne Frank's house in Amsterdam.

I’ve been to Buchenwald.

I’ve been to the Holocaust Museum in D.C.

But none of these affected me the way this memorial did. It’s beautiful and inspiring and horrifying at the same time.

The sound of Jewish children singing is broadcast via hidden speakers. Names of known victims are inscribed on the wall behind these figures:

And then I saw this:

how horrific - I just cannot imagine it - though I do recall reading about Nazi twins experiments years ago.The human race has an atrocuious history of cruelty.

This is powerful! You did a remarkable job of capturing the spirit through photography. I can only imagine how moving it must have been to experience the monument in person.

Words can't even express the emotion. The pictures really are worth 1,000 words.
Thank you for sharing that.
