Water, boxes, and peppermint oil

The boys love water! Just a couple of drops of water spilled on their booster seat tray fascinate them, to say nothing of a big rain puddle! Even though we live a couple of blocks from the beach, it’s been quite windy the past week or two so we’ve been finding other ways to play with water and keep cool.

I emptied out a plastic underbed storage bin and put it on top of two large beach towels (our patio is slick when wet). Then I filled it with balls, old spoons, empty water bottles, mismatched Tupperware, plastic desk organization bins, plastic mini-vac accessories, cups, a couple of their old bottles, etc., and a couple inches of water. Sometimes we add food coloring and/or a few drops of an essential oil to the water.

Add two boys and two swim diapers and voila!

Boxes were also a hit one recent rainy afternoon:

(Yes, at sixteen months Jonah still fits comfortably inside a shoebox!)

More summer fun for kids at WFMW!

Also, i just read this post at Jesus and Dark Chocolate that has some great ideas as well!

This is so true! My son loves any container filled with water and this will entertain him for a long time outside! Same with boxes.

Thanks for sharing the pictures of your little cuties!
That's funny! I posted the same tip about the bins with water! Toddlers do love water, don't they?!?

Your boys are so cute! And I love the idea of water in the storage bin. Water in anything always works well! And boxes are another fun idea. When my kids were little I used to get big boxes from the local grocery store, and then I would get them out on a rainy day. The kids played with them for a long time, used to make me wonder why did I spend so much money on toys!!! LOL

Thanks for sending some blog traffic my way, and thanks for stopping by Jesus and Dark Chocolate!!

Boxes are great boredom busters. My neighbors got a huge box for their 3-year old and that is my kids FAVORITE thing to play with when they go over there! Best "toy" the neighbors ever bought!!!

They are so adorable! I love the activities, bathtime is a hit at our house so we should try that rather than waiting to buy a mini pool which I keep saying we'll do.

Funny your boys were so close in weight to our kiddos. The day they were born the NICU docs said to expect to take them home 1 to 2 weeks apart, but my little girl fought to catch up to her big brother and she even hit some milestones before him. It was lucky for us, though, because the hospital was 100 miles from home and we were in a hotel so releasing one without the other would have been challenging.

My girls absolutely love the little kiddie pool! And mama can go sit beside and get some sun, too! Your little ones are adorable!
