Goodbye, adios, au revoir, adeus, and auf wiedersehen!
During the past couple of weeks we have said many goodbyes. The boys are now on whole milk instead of formula, so goodbye to heating water, measuring out formula scoops, and making 96 ounces every two to three days! Watching me shake the two large Rubbermaid containers to mix the formula is how the boys learned “shake, shake, shake,” which they can now do with whatever is in their hand.
We have also bid adieu to bottles! All liquid is transferred to the boys via sippy cups or regular plastic drinking cups. No more little parts to wash and no more making sure we’re using the proper nipple.
Also, they eat everything sitting in their booster seats – no more holding them while they drink a bottle. This – along with the dramatic decrease in vomiting - means I can put on clothes in the morning and be reasonably assured I’ll be wearing the same thing by the end of the day!
Both boys now know they can reach through their crib bars at any point during the day to retrieve their beloved puppy (Jonah) and red shirt (Benjamin). We’re trying to keep these as comfort items they have only when they sleep so they don’t develop the need to have them by their side all day long. So when I get them out of bed in the morning we have a ritual of waving “goodbye” to the puppy/shirt and placing it far out of reach.
Our most exciting goodbye has been to Prevacid….the boys have been off Prevacid for nearly two weeks and are doing wonderfully! So sell your stock in Abbott Labs because their sales will be taking a nose-dive this quarter!
