Being bald gets the girl

A sweet five-year-old girl and her four-year-old brother befriended Benjamin and Jonah at the park yesterday. First they stroked the boys’ heads for at least five minutes straight – the girl with Benjamin and the boy with Jonah, then they switched – saying “suave, suave.” (“soft, soft”) Meanwhile, both boys generously presented them with bountiful mulch-gifts.

Then the little girl wanted to hold Benjamin so she hoisted him up onto her lap (she was sitting on a bench). She didn’t have the strength or coordination to do it …. gracefully….. and Benjamin was bashed about a bit. He loved every minute of it.

She continued to pet his little bald head and he sat in her lap contentedly until she was ready to hold Jonah. Knowing that endeavor would end in tears, I let her try anyway. Jonah would have none of it. Whining quickly deteriorated into crying. Not that that deterred her in the least! Finally I rescued him from her arms and he happily went back to mulch-sorting.

She and her brother played with Benjamin for close to half-an-hour. At one point she picked up Benjamin’s torso and her brother picked up his feet and they paraded around the playground a bit in a wobbly way. The other nannies looked at me like I was crazy for allowing it, but the three of them were having so much fun and they were being reasonably careful with him.

Jonah and I played mulch-games and he looked over at Benjamin occasionally, but whined if the little girl so much as looked at him. Hello, Clingy-Phase!

Benjamin needs his thumb when he gets tired and wants to go to sleep. He cannot insert his thumb into his mouth without holding a piece of fabric up to his mouth as well. Let’s take a look at his creative problem-solving skills:

I've found you from the Ultimate Blog Party prize list site.

I'm also a mom of twin boys;>

That is an incredibly cute video, and what a problem-solver he is!
