The nose as a fascinating orifice
We watched “Life is Beautiful” for the second time the other night. Is it possible – if you’re a parent – to watch this movie with dry eyes? Especially if the little boy reminds you so much of one of your sons? What a wonderful, but heart-wrenching movie. I can only handle it ever five years or so.

Me: “Benjamin, where is your head?”
Benjamin puts his hand on his head.
Me: “Where are your toes?”
He grabs his toes with both hands.
Me: “And where’s your nose?”
With a distant look in his eyes, Benjamin places his finger just under his right nostril. Then slides it right inside.

I have a very cool site renting my blog this week…. click on the thumbnail in the navigation bar to the left under “New York City Photos.” Because of the subject matter, I am especially partial to one of his recent photos: For The Birds. And who is "The Intrepid Little Man?"
“Almost everywhere I go, I see him. The intrepid little man...He walks and he walks--and in any weather, too. Here, I saw him yesterday, on the West Side Highway close to Chelsea Piers. Rain? He scoffs. "Walk on, Little Man!", I yelled out. He barely noticed me as he pressed on his journey, more interested in the other little man going in the opposite direction. I wish you well, little man. May you always carry on...”
Hahahahaha!

Photos from the weekend…. first, Jonah pointing at a kite:

A tiny egg we found (hummingbird? lizard?):

Fish we fed:

Benjamin traumatizing playing with a lizard:
Jonathan was horrified by this picture. "Now he's going to grab a little puppy and mangle it and think it's fun!"

I leave you with this bit of useless useful information Jonathan just handed me: “Germs stay active on paper money from a few hours (viruses) to a few weeks (bacteria). Anyone who handles money should not handle food.”
Ahhhh... life with a germophobe.
