Friday Finds Me Laughing

In a bit of celebrity news, Jonathan was actually driving by the Hard Rock just before Anna Nicole was discovered there yesterday. (Anna Nicole being the celebrity in that scenario.)

The hotel is up in Broward Country (west of Ft. Lauderdale) and close to where we like to buy citrus fruits from roadside stands. Remarkably, the grocery stores here don’t always sell Florida citrus – sometimes it’s weeks old and from California, Spain, etc.  Honeybells are in season now and they are so amazingly delicious...far juicier and sweeter than anything you find in the stores.

My grandmother gave us a bread machine for Christmas and it arrived two nights ago. The boys had great fun helping me unpack it from the shipping box and I left the machine itself on the floor for them to examine. Jonah was having the best time (Buttons! Door that opens! Then closes! Then opens again!) and had a little bit of a fit when we whisked him away for bedtime.

So yesterday while the machine was kneading the dough, I held him up so he could see inside (there’s a window on the top). I don’t know whether it was the sound or the sight of an innocent dough ball being violently flung around, but he was terrified. His whole body went stiff and he tried to crawl up my shoulders and neck to perch on my head.

What a little weirdo!

Before we move on gaiety and cheerfulness, let me first disgust you with a tale of “Benjamin and the Mucous-Puke.” (Haha - just the title makes me gag!) Benjamin has a bad cold and is constantly leaking from his two very small nostrils. Due to lingering GERD he has a tendency to vomit when he gets really congested. He and Jonah were happily playing yesterday afternoon when I hear Cough-Gag, Cough-Gag, Cough-Gag. And up comes a bit of formula, lots of mucous, and undigested bits of apple.

Jonah thinks this liquid looks like marvelous fun and is attempting to smear it everywhere so I remove said Jonah to the corral. Then as I’m walking back to Benjamin I see him happily munching on an apple bit. That he just puked.
