Two only two things I like about Valentine’s Day….
...are copious amounts of chocolate and children’s’ homemade valentines. My boys are still too young for the latter, but as for the chocolate, you can find my three of my favorite recipes here. The first, Chocolate Covered Cherry Cookies, are gooey, messy, and fun to make with kids. The second, Death by Chocolate Cookies, gets rave reviews every time – they are easy and excellent! And the third, Texas Sheet Cake, is a moist and uniquely flavored chocolate cake my Mom has made since I can remember (it’s also one of the cakes I made for the boys’ birthday party a few weeks ago).
We can add “ball” to Jonah’s vocabulary list, which thus far includes only “uh-oh” and “dada”. Except he pronounces it “bauwhl” – got a little bit of that Texas twang goin’ on. Benjamin is still wordless, though by no means mute. We fed the birds today and after they suddenly flew off for the third time I said, “Benjamin, I don’t think the ducks like it when you shriek at them.”

Of course, Jonah needs his own dancer, too. He was dancing with perfect rhythm to “The Entertainer” yesterday… and then when I was telling Jonathan about it last night, Jonathan started humming the tune and off Jonah went again! I’m even going to have to make a little Benjamin dancer because he took his first steps yesterday…. It’s the end of my life as I know it!
