Raising Twins: Therein lies the rub, now doesn’t it?

Benj1.jpgMy supply of giant sticks is running dangerously low these days as I have been using them to beat people left and right. But perhaps I need to break one out to flay the man who is using a chainsaw ten feet from my sleeping boys’ bedroom window. This is Nap Time, you brainless FREAK! This is the only way I make it through the rest of the day without a nervous breakdown! Lucky for me, though… Jonah is probably near comatose since he was up most of last night dry heaving. We’re not quite sure why.

Today we have a series of Benjamin photos where he demonstrates all of his new faces… First, he wants to smile but is trying not to. Second, his Snorty Pig Face which amuses him greatly. Third, his Hurt Feelings Face (which occurred after I told him his Snorty Pig Face was unattractive). Fourth, he is Benj2.jpgvery pleased. Fifth, this look is how he gets the girls.

Here’s an article listing some of the more common things people say to parents of multiples. Quote: “I smile sweetly as if it's the wittiest, most original comment I've ever heard.” Hahaha! And for some reason strangers feel entitled to ask all kinds of personal questions that they would never ask the mother of a singleton. Read here.

This conversation I had in Spanish, so my translation might be lacking, but here’s the gist…Benj3.jpg

Older couple walking their grandchild: “Oh, how beautiful! Identical twins?”

Me: “No, fraternal.”

Man: “How old are they?”

Me: “They just turned a year old.”

Woman: “Do you have help?”

Me: “No, I’ve taken care of them pretty much by myself since they were six months old.”Benj4.jpg

Woman (keeling over with shock): “But what do you do when they both need attention?”

Benj5.jpg(According to Bob Congdon - whose blog subtitle is amusing - the phrase “therein lies the rub” originates from Shakespeare’s pen …. “Hamlet” no less!)

Five on the Fifth:  What five words make your blog/site unique?  Details tomorrow.

Personally, being a twin is the GREATEST! You kids are blessed to have one another - even though they have to share you ;)

Thanks for donating a prize to the Ultimate Blog Party. I just added your prize listing tonight.
