Ribs, helicopters, and liquid plastic
We drove an hour south to the Homestead Air Reserve Park for RibFest 2007. Jonathan was delighted with the endless choices of barbequed foods. The boys were delighted with the helicopter, construction equipment, and locomotive on display. I was delighted with the cooler weather – finally being outside without sweating – yeah!
We ate tasty ribs, chicken, cole slaw, baked beans, and cornbread – the boys devouring everything put into their mouths. I had the most delicious soft-serve ice cream from a Mr. Softee truck – it was like licking liquid plastic – in a good way!
The boys were not allowed in the petting zoo since one of their parents (who will remain safely anonymous) feared possible contagious diseases. But they got to sit inside a bulldozer, digger, and helicopter.
We also saw trampolines where you jump freely but are also connected to bungee cords – it looked like much fun and I’m hoping the boys can do it next year – because I want to do it with them!

Those jumping things always look like fun. I just won't pay the price. We've always been on a tight budget when the fairs come around, otherwise we'd probably do it.
