A bit of morbid humor
The boys had their one year check-up on Monday. Jonah weighed in at 18 ½ pounds and Benjamin 20 ½. Jonah just loves that 3rd percentile – for the most part he’s been hanging out there since conception. In so doing he’s accelerating his dad’s receding hairline.
They are the same height (25th percentile) and have the same head circumference of 18 inches (30th percentile) which just happens to be the length of Benjamin’s entire body when he was born! We asked the pediatrician if there was anything we should be doing about Jonah’s feet – they are way splayed (say that three times fast) – but he said no, during this year he will most likely figure out that he has to bring his toes in to balance better.
From the book Beyond Power by Marilyn French: “The Mundurucu live in the South American tropical forest, by horticulture, fishing, and a little hunting….They see the human as living in an uneasy power relation with nature. When twins are born, they see them as a regression to animality, since animals regularly have multiple births. The Mundurucu kill twin babies.” Personally, I think the women of the Mundurucu know what hard works twins are and they are just using this “regression to animality” nonsense as an excuse.
I just looked through the Academy Awards nominees and I’ve heard of very few of the movies, much less seen any. That’s probably because we don’t have cable at the moment and the only thing our television does is show DVDs. So, I have no vote. But speaking of movies, I did create a list of the books/movies I’ve read/seen thus far this year and will continue adding to it. Check out “Movies/Books 07” to the left under The FYI.

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I have one set of twins, but didn't have some of the struggles you have had with yours.Mine are boy/girl, so fraternal. They were almost exactly the same size at birth. About 7 pounds each, born at 38 weeks.
The first year is really hard, but after that it gets easier and easier. Mine will be turning 7 in March. Times sure flies!
blessings,
