A wonderful reference from birth through elementary school age (and beyond, really)... with an emphasis on the psychological and spiritual aspects and the how/why of parenting.

Very new-agey/Zen, but thought-provoking ideas on become more aware and thoughtful  in your role as a parent.

The subtitle says it all.  Well worth reading.

Well-written descriptions of different personalities/temperaments based on the Myers-Briggs testing.  Particularly useful if you are, or are raising, an introvert!

Enlightening read for anyone interested/involved in child development (parents, teachers, professors, counselors, homeschoolers).  Describes eight types of neurodevelopmental systems (attention, memory, language, spatial ordering, sequential ordering, motor, higher thinking, and social thinking) and how they evolve, interact, and contribute to a child's success in school. Levine offers practical advice to parents and/or educators in assessing and working with each child's strengths and weaknesses.

As the boys get older it will be an invaluable resource for answering questions such as: 

Should I tell on other kids?
Why are people prejudiced?
Did Jesus ever do anything bad when he was little?
