Toddler Theology, Part II

The boys know a song – I’m not sure where they picked it up – that goes (according to them): “I lub you! I luuuuuuub you! Say to the Lord ‘I lub You.’”

We’re reading the story of when Thomas doubts Jesus’ resurrection, saying he wants to see Jesus with his own eyes. At the end, Jonah says to me, “I want to see Jesus, too.” (Jonah is intrigued by Thomas - see Toddler Theology, Part I)

Here are some bits and pieces of Christmas songs that come out of Jonah’s mouth during the day:

“How great our joy… joy, joy, joy!”

“...and mercy mild!”

And speaking of mercy, we were reading some story where that word was used. At the end of the story Benjamin asked me, “Where did the mercy go?”

The boys heard the song “God is So Good” at a children’s chapel service recently and they’ll belt that chorus out any ol’ time: “Gooooood is so goooooood! He’s so gooooood toooooo meeeeeee!”

Benjamin: Mom, there’s an angel in my room.

Me: Where? Show me.

Benjamin: He’s sleeping on the bed. You can’t go in there.

And then yesterday:

Benjamin: Where is Noah?

Me: I think he’s probably in heaven with God.

Benjamin: No, God is everywhere.

I stand corrected.
