GuestPost... David the Engineer

My Fellow Americans,

Well, it’s been about a month since “The Day the Music Died” for some 57 million of us. Many, like me, feel violated by what has been perpetrated upon America.

Unfortunately, 62 million (legal voters, I guess) bought into the big delusion that life will be better when the government takes from the job creators and gives to those who won’t work.

The question that Barack Hussein Obama would not - and could not - answer was from none other than Charlie Gibson (he of some liberal leanings himself) who asked him repeatedly in an interview: “... Senator, how do you explain the fact that when the capital gains tax rate is lowered, government tax revenue increases?”

After the merry-go-round of non-answers from Obama, Gibson insisted, “But senator...,” another non-reply, and then a third time: “Please senator, how do you explain to the American people the fact that when the tax rate is cut, government revenue increases and what you propose is just the opposite.”

Here’s my question of the day: “Mr. Obama, if your tax plan is the country’s panacea (and of course you have only the country’s best interests at heart, right?), why didn’t you step up to the plate and propose this plan two years ago so we could have avoided all this grief?

After all, Obama, you were an active member of the Senate and you did have Democratic control of the congress, didn’t you?

Or was this grandstand play pulled out of your ying yang at just the right time to appeal to the uninformed masses who don’t have the capability to look beyond the rhetoric?

I see it for what it was. An ill conceived plan that was designed only to set the hook deeper into voters looking for a handout and beautifully timed with an economic collapse.

Trust me on this one, Obama is a smart guy and he knows this tax plan will be an absolute train wreck for the economy (even more cars) so look for some serious, high RPM spin from him to explain why he’s “modifying” this plan which was conceived solely to lure ignorant voters to his camp.

Follow up: Well what do you know? A WSJ editorial dated Nov. 8-9, 2009 “Waiting for Obama” had this to say: “The President-elect dodged a question about whether he might abandon his plans to raise taxes on upper-incomes. The bad news is that he replied that he thinks his campaign agenda (which includes a huge tax increase on ‘the rich’) is still the best policy blueprint. The good news is he didn’t expressly say he’d insist on tax increases, leaving himself some running room.”

Can you say “waffle?”

“The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who will not.”  Thomas Jefferson

Now Obama has taken a center stance on his cabinet appointments and has nixed the notion of a windfall profits tax on oil and his special tax on the wealthy. As I said, these were grandstand plays to capture the idiot vote and he knew they would never work in real life.

He sold “change” but he’s too smart to crash his presidency with policies that will doom him in 2012.
