Better late than never
It’s a relief not to be pumping so much anymore. Now it’s just enough for Jonathan to do a nighttime bottle feeding. For a while there it was a little much to spend an hour trying to nurse, then having to pump afterwards anyway. And there was always Benjamin, fascinated by “the pump machine” and orally documenting the whole process with his nose six inches from my chest. (“Mama, the milk is trying to go back inside the breast.”)
But I do sometimes end up pumping more than we can use in a timely manner. We debated what to do with the extra. Definitely not throwing it away and I don’t want to freeze it now.
So sometimes we surreptitiously add it to the boys’ milk. It seems a little strange, but it can’t hurt, right? (Both boys have tried the milk by itself from a bottle – upon their request – and were not impressed.)
Although breast milk’s natural laxative effect is the last thing Jonah needs....
